With two sites handling almost 13,000 jobs a year, The Harry Moore Group is the type of commercial vehicle repair, service and maintenance operation that puts efficiency and attention to detail at the top of its list of priorities.
It's an approach that saw Harry Moore Commercials in Exeter lift the Authorised Repairer Dealership of the Year trophy at this year’s Isuzu Trucks Dealership Challenge. The group, which employs 35 staff between its two sites in Exeter and Saltash, has been growing steadily in recent years - a development that Managing Director George Moore is happy to give Accelerator™ some credit for.
Having carved an enviable reputation across the south west since being founded in 1977, Harry Moore Commercials started looking for a vehicle management system best suited to its needs at both its Exeter HQ and its Saltash DAF workshop.
"At Saltash, we were using a system that made it very hard to retrieve important information easily and at Exeter we were still using a paper-based system," recalled George.
"About four years ago, we started to think seriously about the type of system that we really needed and looked at a few possibilities. The idea was to introduce the system at Exeter and then put it in at Saltash. But we had to make sure that we made the right decision when choosing a system."
"As we were growing and offering a parts and vehicle hire service, any system that we brought in had to be efficient and very user-friendly. We were looking for a vehicle management system that would make it easy to trace all aspects of a job while also being expandable to meet the needs of our growth."
After looking at a number of possible systems, Harry Moore Commercials chose Accelerator™. According to George, there were a number of reasons behind the decision.
"We soon realised that Accelerator™ was very user friendly," he explained. "Everything about it is very graphic and well laid-out. It is easy to see what you need to see and Accelerator makes it so simple to find and add information."
“Importantly for us, Accelerator™ is a system that it is very easy to train people to use. But what has also helped us is that it can be tailored to exactly what you need. If I tell the Accelerator™ support staff what I want then they set it up to meet those requirements. In that way, it meets the needs of our business and is able to expand with us.
“We gain great support from Accelerator™ whenever we have any queries. I have asked around here and nobody has a bad word to say about it.
“It offers us efficiency, traceability and it has helped us as we have grown and added new aspects to the business.
“Before we used Accelerator™, the paperwork, invoicing and general administrative work would require a large part of the working week for a number of our staff. That just isn’t the case anymore.
“As we have increased in size over the years, it would have been impossible for us to keep using the systems we used to have in place. Accelerator™ has helped us manage our expansion successfully. It makes running the company and keeping our customers happy so much easier and less time consuming.’’
